A photo taken of the 'unsinkable' Titanic in 1912 which sank in the North Atlantic on April 15, 100 years ago.

Thomas Andrews, designer of the Titanic.

Baby Millvina in 1912 with her mother Georgette. Millvina was 9-weeks-old when the Titanic sank. She was the last Titanic survivor, passing away 31st May 2009 at 97.

First-class passenger Bertha (Griggs) Chambers was traveling on Titanic with her engineer husband, Norman Campbell Chambers. Both survived.

Eino Viljami Panula, 13-mos.-old, (photo taken Mar 23, 1912) perished aboard Titanic and was the last victim to be identified in 2002.

Titanic's Senior Wireless Officer was John (Jack) Phillips. He continued sending out distress signals until the lights went out. He was lost in the sinking and his body never recovered. He was 25 years and 1-day-old. His last birthday was on the Titanic.

Rigel, a big black Newfoundland dog, belonging to First Officer Murdoch, saved the passengers in Life Boat 4. They were drifting in front of the Carpathia, too weak to call out. The dog had swam in the icy water for three hours, probably looking for his master. He was swimming in front of the lifeboat and alerted the Carpathia crew by barking. The boat might not have been rescued if not for the sharp barking of Rigel. Thanks to the barking, Captain Rostron saw the boat on the starboard.

Karl Behr- He was a Yale 26-years-old tennis player who boarded Titanic with Helen Newsom to propose to her. Mr. Behr boarded Lifeboat 5 and proposed. They married March 1913. Between 1906 and 1915 he ranked seven times in the U.S. Tennis Opens, reaching 3 in 1914.

Joseph Laroche and Juliette Lafargue were an intershade couple aboard the Titanic. As the ship sank, Joseph stuffed his coat with money & jewelry, took his pregnant wife and children to the deck and managed to get them into a lifeboat. He gave the coat to his wife, and said: “Here, take this, you are going to need it. I’ll get another boat. God be with you. I’ll see you in New York.” Joseph died in the sinking. He was the only victim of African Descent on the Titanic.

AMAZING SHOT.. The remains of the Titanic were found in 1985 by Dr. Robert Ballard, an oceanographer and marine biologist with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
